Ko mātou tēnei | This is Us

Life at BNZ isn't just about the work you do, it's also about the people you connect with and how we collaborate across our organisation to build the future our customers and colleagues imagine.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

A 6-week summer internship (November 2023 - December 2023) will enable you to put your academic skills to the test in the real-world, and to decide whether Financial Markets is the career for you.

  • Are you keen to be part of a dynamic team environment that fosters learning and collaboration?
  • Are you soon to complete your studies - either in your final or penultimate year?
  • Do you want to gain professional experience, build networks, and get a great idea about whether a career in financial markets is right for you?

We spoke with some of our Leaders in Financial Markets, who let us know the following about the roles:

What's the most exciting thing about this opportunity?

As a Financial Markets Intern, you will get exposure to a wide range of markets disciplines across our Wellington and Auckland offices. From money market and foreign exchange trading to client relationship management and research - you will get to work with a team of people who will support, coach, and inspire you to reach your potential.

A 6-week summer internship with BNZ Markets (November 2023 - December 2023) is a chance to discover more about yourself, about BNZ, the great careers available within Financial Markets and may lead to a permanent Graduate role.

What is the team culture and environment like?

Supportive and inclusive, we come to work each day to help our customers and colleagues achieve their best outcomes. We're inquisitive and enjoy the variety of interactions that Financial Markets provide where every opinion is valued. We love that our work makes a real difference to the New Zealand economy.

What skills or attributes will this person have in order to be successful?

We don't mind what you are studying as long as you're curious, open-minded and keen to learn! You will be someone who always brings your A-game, who can think from a range of perspectives, and who asks lots of questions.

We're looking for people who are effective communicators, who love problem-solving, have excellent attention to detail and enjoy building relationships.

What should the candidate include in their application?

Your application is our first step to getting to know you, so we are looking for you to include:

  • Cover Letter - to help us to get to know you and your achievements, along with your motivation for working at BNZ and Financial Markets in particular.
  • Academic Transcript - to help us understand your strong academic record.
  • Extra-Curricular Activities - to let us know about your interests outside of the classroom and your experience working with others in teams (i.e., sports, the arts, clubs) and how you're connected to your community.
