Together we grow, Ka tipu tahi tatau.

At Buddle Findlay, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do.  We believe that growth, connection and achievement of exceptional outcomes for our clients, comes from working together.  Join our team to make your mark on the commercial world and help our clients be part of a more successful Aotearoa!

Your opportunity

Our summer clerk programme provides you with the opportunity to get to know us, understand what we do and how we work, and get a good idea of whether we're the right place for you.

As a summer clerk, you will gain experience in two legal practice areas, take part in our bespoke summer clerk academy, learn alongside experts in their field, get involved in client facing work and connect with our people and clients.  Our people and our culture are the foundation of who we are and what really sets us apart.  In joining our programme, you'll be part of a small group of talented students involved in meaningful work and challenging legal projects from the get-go.

Our summer clerk programme is a paid internship, designed to help you make the most of your summer break while gaining exposure to the legal world.  With our culture of mentoring and support, you will be immersed in our firm and given all the tools you need to grow and succeed.

Applications are open

Applications for our 2024/2025 summer clerk programme are open!  If you are a law student in your penultimate year looking to gain experience in a corporate law firm, we would love to hear from you!

Applying to us and joining our talent community is easy, head to our students and graduates page and click on the 'Apply' button. Once you've registered, you'll be guided through each step of your application.

Applications will close on 2 April at 9 am.

Your application

You will also be asked to upload your cover letter, CV and academic transcript and complete a values-based quiz, giving us insight into how you think, feel, and operate, and give you a better sense of what's important to us.  We look at applications holistically, and want to gain a deeper understanding of who you are and the contribution you could bring to Buddle Findlay.

If you are shortlisted for an interview, you'll get to meet partners and other people at the firm who are part of our graduate recruitment team who are eager to learn more about you.  You'll be guided along the way ensuring you know what to expect, how to prepare and most of all, enjoy the experience with us and have opportunity to ask your own questions.

We look forward to reviewing your application and getting to know you!
