Mukund Ghantala

I’ve been developing scripts to automate the testing, making it quicker and more streamlined while also freeing up resources.

7.30 AM

My alarm rings, not that I hear it since I’m a very deep sleeper! Eventually, it gets through my dreams and wakes me up. I get ready for work and have a cup of milo to start my day.

9.00 AM

I head into work, if it’s a beautiful day I’ll might even ride in on my motorbike! I like to use this time to clear my head and prepare for the day that lies ahead.

9.30 AM

Once I arrive at work, the first thing on my agenda is coffee. The café on the ground floor of the office makes it super convenient to get my caffeine hit for the day! It’s also a good opportunity to catch up with my colleagues, build connections and learn about the various other parts of the business I wouldn’t otherwise get exposure to.

10.00 AM

After finishing my coffee, it's time to head into the lab. I’ve been verifying the functionality of a PCB, aiming to understand if the design meets the requirements – i.e., does it do what we want it to do – and PCB won’t test itself… wait, no, it actually will! I’ve been developing scripts to automate the testing, making it quicker and more streamlined while also freeing up resources.

12.00 PM

It’s lunchtime! The best lunch spot is the Level 5 balcony with its views overlooking Lane Cove National Park! This is another great opportunity to chat about life, the universe, and everything.

1.00 PM

After lunch, I go through the data I collected in the morning, analysing it to see if we’re getting the results that we were expecting. The board seems to be exhibiting some interesting behaviour, so it's time to debug!!

3.00 PM

After a few hours of getting to the bottom of the issue, I set up some time with my colleagues to go through the results I’ve been getting; a fresh perspective is always invaluable when trying to understand a bug. With our wits combined, a few possible solutions have been brainstormed. It’s also important to remember to have fun and laugh at work – it’s a rare opportunity to be doing such cool work with some of the brightest minds.

To implement some of these solutions, it's time to break out the soldering iron and make some changes. This is easier said than done – the components are so tiny they require steady hands, a microscope, and a whole lot of practice!

5.30 PM

Time to call it a day and head home. Once home, I cook some dinner. I’ve been trying a lot of new recipes lately to keep things interesting and to challenge my skills in the kitchen!

9.00 PM

After eating, doing the dishes and doing some other chores, it’s time to unwind for the day. I like to hop on a call and play video games with some friends to relax since it’s also a good way to keep in touch with my mates back home in Queensland.

9.30 PM

I might’ve lost track of time while having too much fun, I probably should get some sleep before work tomorrow!
