Our winter clerkship is a great way to experience first-hand what life is like as a graduate at White & Case.
As a part of our four-week Sydney Winter Clerkship, you’ll be welcomed into our team, where you’ll undertake a number of meaningful and challenging tasks. You will have the opportunity to attend client meetings, work on pro bono matters, and broaden your understanding of large cross-border transactions and matters.
You will also have the opportunity to connect with our wider APAC network through the simultaneous programs running across Melbourne, Hong Kong and Tokyo, as well as through the matters and projects you'll be exposed to.
Throughout the clerkship, you will:
- Learn about the Firm and our practice areas in Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region
- Discover our graduate program, including our overseas seats
- Join in social events, network and get to know our people
- Have continual support and feedback through your allocated supervisor (partner), mentor (senior associate) and buddy (graduate or junior associate)

Reviews
I'm a graduate in the M&A and will be responsible for due diligence for a deal. Due diligence could include conducting relevant searches of the target company and review corporate documents.
My responsibilities are varied which makes it very engaging. I have the opportunity to work with partners, senior associates and other junior lawyers which makes the work rewarding.
Legal work - lots of client interaction and managing documents. No two days are the same.

Cons
Truly international law firm means that you may have to work outside normal hours, especially if you're working on projects with teams in Europe or the USA.
The hours can be long - especially on overseas deals.
There is minimal after hours interaction, perhaps both due to it being a smaller office in Sydney and due to the workload.
Bureaucracy
Can also be tough to organise outside activities, because everybody is on different schedules
