I enjoy the flexibility to be able to work from home, it’s nice to have your own space and be able to work in your own environment a couple days a week.

What attracted you to join the William Buck Graduate Program?

Personally, the flexibility to be able to work from home and in the office was one of the main reasons I joined William Buck. This flexibility was made available to me as part of the William Buck graduate program. I also liked that William Buck has reviews and check points throughout the year to track your progress and learning, and William Buck fully supports graduates eligible to commence the Chartered Accountants (CA) program.

How were you supported through the program?

Senior staff members in my team supported me massively on my jobs. They spent time teaching me how to complete files and showed me their tips and tricks to get the work done. A lot of the work was learnt by being hands on, so it was super important to have senior staff members who were willing to help me.

I also enjoyed the check points and reviews. This is a time to sit down with your manager and just have a general discussion about how you are performing and your next steps moving forward. This made you hungry to get better and highlighted the areas you needed more work on.

How do you see your career progressing with William Buck?

It is easy to see a pathway at William Buck. Going from graduate to intermediate to senior, and on to assistant manager and manager. Being promoted to an Intermediate this year was super cool. I am excited to progress my learning and challenge myself more. I will be taking maternity leave in June, but I am still committed to further my learnings with the aim to becoming a Senior auditor/accountant within the next two to three years.

What’s the best thing about working at William Buck?

Working at William Buck is fun and enjoyable. I really enjoy the social aspect - it does not feel like work when you are having a giggle and laugh on the job. I enjoy the flexibility to be able to work from home, it’s nice to have your own space and be able to work in your own environment a couple days a week.

The free parking at the Tauranga office is also a big attraction, as well as the benefits William Buck offers like parental leave, the wellbeing allowance, birthday leave, etc.

Is there anything else you want to share with your experience at William Buck?

I love working alongside my fellow staff members. Everyone is super nice and friendly, and we all have a good laugh. I enjoy the learning opportunities that are always available, our little team challenges and the social things we do as a team throughout the year. It was also great to join our audit colleagues in Auckland last year as part of a work learning trip.
