About this course

Become an expert in audience research and analytics, advocacy and persuasion, public relations and crisis communications.

Taught by a combination of leading academics and practitioners in the field, the Master of Strategic Communications Management has a strong applied focus, aligning closely with innovation taking place in the industry.

Drawing on best practices locally and globally, you'll be equipped with the skills and knowledge to build effective and ethical communication and stakeholder engagement strategies, as well as the expertise to communicate with diverse audiences in an increasingly global environment. Through core units you'll build a deep understanding of the application of big data and its role in areas such as determining audience sentiment.

You'll examine the impact of persuasive story-telling and influencer strategies, and will consider the effectiveness of integrated media campaigns using both traditional and digital approaches.

You'll have the opportunity to tailor your studies and develop deep knowledge by choosing from one of the following streams:

  • Communication for Social Change and Development
  • Health Communication
  • Management, Leadership and Entrepreneurship
  • Public Policy and Political Communication
  • Sports Communication

To complete your studies you'll undertake a capstone unit in Collaboration and Innovation, producing professional or scholarly work that can contribute to a portfolio of professional development. You'll achieve this via a professional internship, an industry project, a research project or an international study tour.

You'll be equipped to effectively plan and communicate across cultures, be responsive to a digitally integrated world, and work in areas across government, corporate, not-for-profit and community sectors. Our graduates are prepared with the skills to succeed in a world of digitalisation and globalisation and are ready for leadership roles such as:
