This week, I have been undertaking an audit for a multinational company based in India, where I am testing the company's internal controls and accounts for revenue and expenses.

My job as an engineer is to help get a design as close to perfect as possible.

I like to catch up with my area foreman to run through activities for the day, drawings for an upcoming concrete pour and the status of outstanding RFIs we are chasing up.

After dropping off, I head to work. I’m usually in by 8, which means it's time for toast and a cup of tea. While I enjoy this, I chat with our other early birds and set myself up at my desk. I sort through emails and write out an agenda for my day, which helps me stay on track and lets me know if I need to hunt for more work!

As it is nearing the end of the month, I am sitting with my manager to go over the monthly expenses for all Waka Kotahi disposal jobs in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions and establish budgets for the following month. This is an exciting job to do as it allows me to get an overview of all the current projects and understand the financial side of the work that I do.

Amy Ha studied ​a ​Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) ​at University of New South Wales in 2016, and is now a Commercial Graduate at Laing O'Rourke.

Amy studied Bachelor of Business (Marketing/HR majors) at Flinders University and is now working as Branch Manager (Previous n-Store Sales & Leadership Graduate) at Reece Group
