From not being able to convey my messages clearly and being underconfident in giving live interviews properly on camera, I have come a long way through the experiences that my internships gave me.

To be a successful product designer, being a proactive designer is important. Having good communication skills, being able to interact with various stakeholders from an associate product designer to a developer and convincing them of your idea is the key. Being creative and coming up with new ideas are also essential.

Internships should be compulsory for everyone if you have the resources at your disposal. I would say try to diversify your internship experience in college because college is the right time to take up such responsibilities and learn a few important things.

I learned that you have to balance listening and learning vs sharing your ideas and asking questions.

My suggestion to new grads would be to have patience and keep learning and experimenting. According to me, exploration and experimentation are the best ways to learn something.

Everything you do at university will add to your understanding and lead you down a path that is more suited to you, even if the experience is not for you… now you know!

The coolest thing about this experience is the ability to help people, to meet like-minded people and to feel like you made a difference.
