A vacation clerkship is the perfect way to learn about working at Clifford Chance and meet our people.
We recruit students that we believe have the potential and ambition to join us once their degrees are completed.
The clerkship program allows you to follow the life of a lawyer at Clifford Chance closely - you will sit with the team, working with our lawyers on real, live client projects. You will be treated as a part of our team and given opportunities to demonstrate your ability.
To ensure you get the most from your program we will assign you a mentor - an experienced lawyer who will help you settle in and answer any questions you have.
Across the 7-week program we will also host sessions from professionals across the firm to give you a real insight into how our firm works. You will be given the opportunity to interact with team members from around the global network and get to see what life is really like for a Clifford Chance lawyer.
We are also delighted to confirm that (subject to any covid regulations in place at the time) we will be offering our summer clerks a short trip to our Singapore office to see the firm's network for yourself and meet more of our colleagues in the Asia-Pacific region.
To be successful, you will need to demonstrate your potential to become a first-class lawyer and your willingness to take advantage of the many opportunities that you encounter.
You will need to exhibit ambition, drive and commitment, the ability to articulate your ideas clearly, and the desire to build relationships and deliver outstanding service.
We're also looking for business awareness, a keen commercial insight and a strong ability to lead and manage.
In addition to these attributes we ask that applicants have a consistently strong academic record.
The Clerkship will take place from 28 November 2022 - 20 January 2023 with the international visit occurring between 3rd- 7th January 2023.
Successful candidates will automatically be considered for our 2024 Graduate program.
As a part of your application, please submit an up-to-date academic transcript, curriculum vitae and cover letter. Applications will close on Thursday 14 April 2022.

Law
We're looking for the brightest & most talented law students irrespective of background – ambitious people who offer new ideas and fresh perspectives.
The personal and professional development opportunities and always being challenged in what I do but equally supported in the process.
Exposure to huge international matters. Working with colleagues across offices.
The people are fantastic and the work is challenging and interesting.
There is a flat structure in each practice area where lawyers are assigned work based on their capacity, interest, and knowledge.
Great team environment, people are caring and approachable, high standard of work.
The hours can sometimes be long and unpredictable and can be difficult making after work plans during the week.
The combination of hours, high expectations, and high autonomy can sometimes be difficult and can lead to burnout of colleagues.
Training in leaner, high-performing teams is a double-edged sword. You get more responsibility from the beginning, but this can also translate to longer hours and a lot of pressure.
The hours and expectations are quite intense and you will likely be expected to work some late nights and weekends.
Due to the nature of the work and client expectations, CC is not very flexible with hours.
