What are your thoughts on pay and bonuses at your company?
The pay is very high and you get paid overtime on the legal services award. Once you are admitted, your pay increases substantially. The transition to associate also has a large pay bump. There are no bonuses, but the base rate is generally significant.
Graduate, Sydney - 26 Aug 2024
The pay for graduates is top of the market and we are compensated well. There are no bonuses which I believe makes sense for graduates. The associate pay is substantially lower compared to our other global offices but I understand our charge out rates are lower.
Graduate, Sydney - 13 Aug 2024
The pay is above market, there are maybe 1-3 firms that pay above at the graduate level. Generally, grads do not receive bonuses.
Graduate, Sydney - 13 Aug 2024
I think that the base pay for graduates is slightly lower than market level compared to other firms of a similar level.
Graduate, Sydney - 13 Aug 2024
Grads don't get bonuses but the pay is above market average and the domestic and international secondment opportunities, as well as the work offsites are beyond what any other domestic firm offers.
Graduate, Sydney - 13 Aug 2024
Satisfied with my pay for the moment. However, the reality is with any of the top law firms you are working long hours. Therefore, there is the potential that when you become an admitted lawyer (from an unadmitted law graduate), your take home pay actually goes down (whilst you are unadmitted, the firm ensures you meet and exceed the legal services award).
Graduate, Perth - 08 Aug 2024
Graduate lawyers do not get bonuses.
Graduate, Sydney - 19 Jan 2023
I think we pay above average but it could definitely be higher.
Graduate, Perth - 16 Jan 2023
Employees are paid in line with general market expectations.
Graduate, Sydney - 12 Jan 2023
The pay for a graduate is on the high end of the market. However, during the entire two year graduate program we are not entitled to any bonuses.
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Jan 2023
Good pay and above market average. Also liked that they paid a higher rate for being admitted from the start of my employment and reimbursed my PLT costs.
Graduate, Perth - 05 Jan 2023
Competitive salary package, including health insurance and various wellness benefits.
Graduate, Perth - 05 Jan 2023
The salaries are not as high as our counterparts - this could be improved. Bonuses are dependent on performance.
Graduate, Sydney - 06 Apr 2018
Pay seems fair, not enough time spent at the firm to comment at this stage.
Graduate, Sydney - 06 Apr 2018
In Australia it is market rate/at the correct level, I am satisfied. When compared with overseas, it is comparably low (esp London trainees), of course this reflects markets etc. No bonuses for graduates which is fine. However bonus scheme is not clear on any level, hours worked are sometimesunjustifiable against pay. I feel that hours worked over the weekend (given contracted working days etc) should be added toward annual leave, it only seems equitable.
Graduate, Perth - 03 Apr 2018
Salaries are generous.
Intern, Sydney - 28 Mar 2018
Pay is market but not at the top of the market. Bonuses can be good but relatively opaque on how they are determined.
Midlevel, Sydney - 27 Mar 2018
Pay as a first year graduate is in line with the market average for a top tier firm in Perth.
Graduate, Perth - 26 Mar 2018
I'm satisfied. The packages for international secondments are really generous.
Midlevel, Perth - 26 Mar 2018
Bonuses and the whole structure surrounding them are extremely opaque and some transparency on the awarding of them and calculation of their magnitude would be welcomed.

What are your company's best or most unusual perks? For example: free tickets, free dinners, moving expenses, taxis, pension, etc.
You get a massive discount for a gym nearby. You get free UberEats at the office after 7:30PM and Uber ride home from the office after 8:00PM. You get as many free coffees as you want from the in-house barista. The private health insurance is gold level/top-tier. The WFH and Wellness allowances are incredibly generous, you can basically buy sit-stand desk and nice office chair every year, as well as spending on your hobbies/things that benefit you physically/mentally/emotionally/spiritually.
Graduate, Sydney - 26 Aug 2024
The bonus for tech/ IT as well as exercise/ gym is fantastic and unlike any other firm!
Graduate, Sydney - 13 Aug 2024
There are great perks. These include: gold level health insurance, overseas secondment opportunities and other travel opportunities (such as offsites), ubers, dinners, an office barista (in Sydney), office snacks and soft drinks and generous additional leave policies.

Graduate, Perth - 13 Aug 2024
If you work after 7:30pm (from the office) you can order dinner on uber eats and if you're in the office past 8pm you can order an uber home. You get $1,000 WFH allowance in your first year and $500 every year after that as well as a $1,000 well-being allowance each year for massages, gym memberships, sports etc. There are drinks fridges and lots of snacks in the office as well as free breakfast every morning and coffee. We have gold cover private health insurance and generous leave policies. I might be missing some things but they treat you well!
Graduate, Sydney - 13 Aug 2024
The best everyday perks include the Ubers. However, the best perk would be one inbuilt into the graduate program. That is, the international secondment opportunity, where for 6 months the firm pays for your accomodation and gives you a salary to work in an international office. Genuinely amazing opportunity that made Clifford Chance stand out from all the other firms when I applied to it.
Graduate, Perth - 08 Aug 2024
Wellness allowance to use towards gym or other health-related activities (e.g. yoga classes, massages, etc.); private medical and dental insurance, working from home allowance; free accommodation and per diem allowance (on top of your Australian salary) when you go on your international secondment.
Graduate, Sydney - 19 Jan 2023
Last year we got $1000 wellness allowance and another $1000 for WFH allowance. Taxis are free after 8pm and if you do an international secondment they pay for most things (flights, accommodation and provide a living away from home allowance).
Graduate, Perth - 16 Jan 2023
Best perks include tickets to special events
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Jan 2023
Wellness allowance of $1000 per year, working from home allowance of $1000 per year, free health insurance (high level and including hospital, can cover dependents), 28 weeks of paid parental leave for either parent, meals and transport provided if working after 8pm.

Graduate, Perth - 05 Jan 2023
Dinner and taxis are paid for after 8pm. The apartments we are given as a part of our overseas rotations are a great perk.
Graduate, Sydney - 06 Apr 2018
Send us overseas for a 6 month rotation at an office abroad. Will also get sent abroad for training and team retreats.
Graduate, Sydney - 06 Apr 2018
Parking on the weekends. Taxis and food (after 8pm). Christmas present ($300 voucher). Stipend for o/s travel.
Graduate, Perth - 03 Apr 2018
Paid secondment overseas.
Intern, Sydney - 28 Mar 2018
taxis and dinner
Graduate, Sydney - 28 Mar 2018
Overseas Travel - Guaranteed graduate secondment overseas and Overseas Retreats (I have been to retreats in Bangkok, Shanghai and Singapore) and overseas training (in Hong Kong, Singapore and London). The free snacks in the kitchen are pretty good and $30 dinner allowance and taxis home after 8pm help make working late a bit better.
Midlevel, Sydney - 27 Mar 2018
Nothing of note in Perth, but the Hong Kong office owns a junk boat that can be chartered out on the weekend to visit surrounding islands.
