The training is fantastic. You'll typically have a formal, introductory training at the start of your rotation, and many ad-hoc trainings on current trends/issues in your practice area from your domestic colleagues as well as your regional/global colleagues.
There are many international working groups you can get involved in, although this is more self-selective. If a particular area of the law/market interests you, then you have the opportunity to learn more about broader global/international trends by engaging in those working groups.

CC run great internal trainings and associates take time to run informal on the job training as well.
Graduate, Sydney - 13 Aug 2024
The training and development programs are often team based, and are very practical and relevant to the work we complete. Types of skills I have picked up include reviewing and understanding key documents, types of transactions, types of financing, financial markets and how to run key deal stages (such as a signing or completion).

The training at the firm has been really good, both formally and informally. The firm hosts many training sessions across all practice groups and encourages/requires graduates to attend.
Graduate, Sydney - 13 Aug 2024
Grads are given induction training to the firm and then also specific training to each seat they do ('seats' being each team they rotate into). The training is practical and useful.
Graduate, Sydney - 13 Aug 2024
For graduate, initial induction training is in Hong Kong. Then, there are regular internal and external training sessions throughout your seat and you are also offered an international secondment.
Graduate, Sydney - 19 Jan 2023
As a graduate you get one week of training before each seat and depending on your goals, Clifford Chance Academy provides you with external and internal training sessions you can sign up to.
Graduate, Perth - 16 Jan 2023
Training is excellent - the firm puts a lot of emphasis on formal training sessions throughout the work year. There is also cultural training, such as in respect of queer issues.
Graduate, Sydney - 12 Jan 2023
The formal training is excellent, the first two days is packed and dedicated with training. Throughout the year we have ongoing training sessions on various topics and everyone is invited to join. Informal training is also great as people are super willing to help out and provide guidance.
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Jan 2023
Training before each rotation related to the specific seat, e.g. arbitration, banking. Banking also has an Australian specific bootcamp training as well as a broader training for Asia-Pacific region which is really helpful. There is a lot of informal training and learning throughout the rotations as tasks are completed and can be quite independent work / learning especially in transactional matters.
Graduate, Perth - 05 Jan 2023
We are constantly engaging in training and skills sessions relevant to both Australian and other jurisdictions (lead by our other offices). A recent training session I attended was on UK and EU merger guidelines.
Graduate, Sydney - 06 Apr 2018
Training was useful but could be improved to be so much more practical.
Graduate, Sydney - 06 Apr 2018
The training programme is thorough and allows you to rotate through four practice areas before settling.
Intern, Sydney - 28 Mar 2018
Fantastic and regular online learning modules and regional training programmes.
Intern, Sydney - 28 Mar 2018
Other than specific overseas training sessions, most training is on the job and less formal training sessions
Midlevel, Sydney - 27 Mar 2018
Informal training is exceptionally good - we learn by getting involved of the highest calibre of work from seniors that are, on the whole, happy to teach. The formal training needs improvement. In Hong Kong, there are CPD sessions weekly, some of which are run in Hong Kong and available via VC to the rest of the network, and some of which we watch in Hong Kong over VC. There could be more involvement in this in Perth.
Graduate, Perth - 26 Mar 2018
There is minimal "orientation" for new joiners - graduates are expected to hit the ground running. Before some of the graduate rotations there is training hosted in Singapore.
Midlevel, Perth - 26 Mar 2018
The ability to listen in on conferences across the globe, be that in Hong Kong, London, Tokyo or Singapore is really amazing in both the sense of learning lots and also gaining an insight into the different methods of teaching.
