More than 125 Years in the Making

The company’s founders, Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz, made history with the invention of the automobile in the year 1886. As a pioneer of automotive engineering, it is a motivation and commitment of Daimler to safely and sustainably shape the future of mobility: The Group’s focus is on innovative and green technologies as well as on safe and superior automobiles that appeal and fascinate. Daimler consequently invests in the development of efficient drive trains with the long-term goal of locally emission-free driving: from high-tech combustion engines to electric drive trains powered by battery or fuel cell. Furthermore, the company follows a consistent path toward intelligent connectivity of its vehicles, autonomous driving and new mobility concepts. This is just one example of how Daimler willingly accepts the challenge of meeting its responsibility towards society and the environment.

Daimler sells its vehicles and services in nearly all the countries of the world and has production facilities in Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Africa with a brand portfolio of Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, Western Star, BharatBenz, FUSO, Setra and Thomas Built Buses, and Daimler Financial Services’ brands: Mercedes-Benz Bank, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services and Daimler Truck Financial. The company is listed on the stock exchanges of Frankfurt and Stuttgart (stock exchange symbol DAI). In 2016, the Group sold around 3 million vehicles and employed a workforce of more than 282,000 people; revenue totalled €153.3 billion and EBIT amounted to €12.9 billion.

Locally Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific has a current brand portfolio including Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, Alliance Parts and FUSO. We employ around 350 people across wholesale and retail divisions of the business.

The Evolution

As a technology leader, we aspire to shape the future of transport actively. After all, it is clear that the haulage sector will continue to grow sharply over the next few decades. Here the challenges we face as a manufacturer are formidable: more than ever there is a need to reconcile the demands of the environment and the economy – and that can only be achieved through innovations.

Latest testimony to our technology leadership comes in the shape of our autonomous Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 or also the first autonomous truck licensed for use on public roads in Nevada/USA, the Freightliner Inspiration Truck. Furthermore, we have sent the Mercedes-Benz Actros with Highway Pilot, the world's first autonomous series-production truck, out onto a German motorway, and launched the first all-electric truck in series production – the FUSO e-Canter.

Designing the Mobility of Tomorrow.

The automobile industry is in transition. Digitalization, connectivity, electric mobility, the road to autonomous driving, the Sharing Economy — all these factors are changing the branch with a speed never seen before. But Daimler Truck and Bus do not want to keep pace – we want to set the tempo. Not only with regard to products and services, but also in the way that we work together: across teams, in swarms, from home, or while studying. It doesn’t matter if you’re still in school, attending the university, have completed your degree, are just beginning your career, or already have experience. Are you passionate about your ideas? Do you want to help move things forward? Are you a real team player? Then get on board at Daimler Truck and Bus and design the future of mobility along with us.
