About NZX - New Zealand's Exchange

“Our people are attracted by our unique Kiwi brand and business, there’s no other place like it! We give everyone the opportunity to learn and understand the share market and other markets as professionals and as individuals.”

NZX is a New Zealand company with a strong commitment to supporting the growth of Kiwi businesses. We are extremely proud of our passion and dedication to New Zealand – working hard alongside our customers and stakeholders to grow the markets operated by NZX.

You’ll know we are New Zealand’s stock exchange, but did you know we also operate equity, debt, derivatives and energy markets, and support the growth and development of our core markets by providing trading, clearing, settlement, depository and data. To ensure we have our finger on the pulse and are well connected to New Zealand investors, NZX owns Smartshares - New Zealand’s only issuer of listed Exchange Traded Funds, and KiwiSaver provider SuperLife. We are also a provider of wealth management services for New Zealand advisers via our Wealth Technologies business.

Our hard working and dedicated employees at NZX make up the backbone of our company, and we believe our success is made through our teams – who uphold our strong collaborative culture in everything we do.

Our People

At NZX you can learn from industry experts whose local and international experience continue the proud reputation NZX is renowned for. Join us and you’ll become part of a culture that nurtures talent, embraces diversity and rewards outstanding performance. NZX is committed to diversity in the workplace and we embrace the insights and experiences all our employees bring.

Our Values

At NZX, integrity is the foundation of everything we do. We are resilient; we evolve as the markets change. We are open to new ideas, new thinking, new people and new ways of doing business. We operate in a unique environment and we are creative in our approach to new challenges and opportunities. We deliver, we exceed and excel.

These are the values we believe in, and that we recognise and reward throughout the year with our Values Awards. These culminate in an awards evening hosted by the Board where NZX’s Chair recognises a Supreme Award winner who has exemplified our values.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • The ability to learn new things every day.
  • The best thing about working at NZX is how welcoming and inclusive everyone is. All staff, no matter what level of the organisation, are genuinely interested and supportive of the Graduates. This results in many opportunities to gain exposure and learn from both your own team, and other areas of the business, as well has having a commitment to career progression.
  • The support that I have received since the first day of my employment. The work environment at NZX encourages my growth and has supported my development in my professional career.
  • Interesting to be at the centre of the New Zealand stock market. Everyone is very friendly and all levels of management are open to chatting or helping you out.
  • The regular social events, and the flexible work + life balance offered
  • Sometimes working under subsidiary companies feels different, as companies have different approaches to applying policy. There is limited rotation on the Grad Programme and the rotation term is yearly.
  • We are in a temporary office right now, so I haven't had the chance to build relationships with many people as much as I would have hoped by now. I am sure it will happen when we return to our normal office though.
  • Days when there is a large amount of work to complete can get very busy and have to work late to finish everything before market closes or end of day.
  • Sometimes the work can be slightly mundane.
  • Being new to the industry it can be quite hard learning about the numerous different business functions.

  • Graduate stories
Something that was really pleasing was how forthcoming everyone at NZX was - no one is too busy to have a conversation with you and help you learn about their role.

My first job will be to collect the amended raw data from the team and calculate the new figures. I’ll use a spreadsheet I created a few months ago for this exact purpose.
